Why Choose UK Polycarbonate Tunnels?
UK Polycarbonate Tunnels was established to bring one of the UK’s toughest polycarbonate tunnel systems to customers nationwide.
Our journey began in 2013 with Western Isles Polycarbonate Tunnels, installing polycarbonate tunnels across the Western Isles, Highlands and other exposed coastal locations where extreme weather is simply part of everyday life. These are environments that quickly expose weaknesses in ordinary structures.
Over the past decade, our tunnels have earned a reputation for exceptional strength, reliability and longevity, continuing to perform year after year despite Atlantic storms, high winds and harsh coastal conditions.
Following growing demand from customers across the UK, we created UK Polycarbonate Tunnels to supply complete DIY tunnel kits nationwide, giving gardeners, growers and outdoor living enthusiasts access to a structure that’s been proven in some of Britain’s most demanding environments.

Positioning your Tunnel
Selecting the right site for your polycarbonate tunnel is an important part of creating a successful growing space. As well as ensuring you have enough room for your chosen tunnel size, there are a few practical considerations that can help you get the best results.
Allow Room Around the Structure
We recommend leaving at least 1 metre of clear space around your tunnel. This provides easy access for maintenance, cleaning and general upkeep, while also allowing you to move comfortably around the structure.
Adequate clearance also helps improve airflow around the tunnel and reduces shading from nearby fences, walls or buildings. Where possible, avoid positioning your tunnel directly beneath trees, as they can reduce available sunlight and create additional maintenance from falling leaves and debris.
Making the Most of Natural Light
For maximum sunlight throughout the day, an east-to-west orientation is often recommended. However, thanks to the excellent light transmission and diffusion properties of twin-wall polycarbonate, your tunnel can perform well in a variety of positions.
Unlike many growing structures, our tunnels are designed to withstand exposed locations and challenging weather conditions, giving you greater flexibility when choosing a site.
Preparing the Ground
A level site will make installation simpler and ensure the finished structure performs as intended. While tunnels can be installed on sloping ground, additional groundwork and planning may be required.
For best results, we recommend selecting the flattest area available whenever possible.
Planning Your Layout
There are many ways to organise the interior of your tunnel depending on how you intend to use it. Popular options include raised beds, growing benches, shelving, pots, hanging baskets and grow bags.
Many growers choose a central bed with pathways on either side, providing easy access to all planting areas while making the most of the available space.
If your tunnel is installed directly onto soil, crops can also be planted straight into the ground, creating a productive and natural growing environment.

Testimonials
Kate
I just want to say how happy I am with the work and the end product. I already love my tunnel, there was so little mess in the garden, despite the rotten weather, the work is done to an excellent standard in double quick time and all the dealings with yourself and Max and colleague were professional and smooth.
Cannot rate you highly enough!
Trev & Jo
From first contact to finish nothing was too much for the team, they worked tirelessly to ensure that everything was completed to an excellent standard. Couldn't be happier with both the product and the lads themselves. Very friendly, punctual, professional and approachable. Would highly recommend for anyone considering a polycrub in the future.
Mairi
Efficient, friendly, professional service from start to finish. The poly tunnel was built in only 2 days, one of the days in poor weather condition which did not deter the workers. The resulting poly tunnel far exceeds already high expectations.
I would highly recommend Western Isles Poly Carbonate Tunnels. Thank you
