Do I need planning permission for a polycarbonate tunnel?

 

Planning permission is not required for our structures, but we always recommend consulting your local authority’s planning guidelines.

 

What sizes are available?

 

Our standard tunnel kits are available in 4-metre widths, with lengths ranging from 4 metres to 12 metres in 1-metre increments.

 

Can the kits be made to my own dimensions?

 

Unfortunately, our kits are only available in set sizes. However, please get in touch with us to discuss your ideas further.

 

How much does a tunnel kit cost?

 

Prices start from £3,100, including VAT, for a 4 m × 4 m tunnel kit. Larger sizes are priced according to length.

 

What is included in the tunnel kit?

 

All our kits include the building materials required to complete your tunnel, together with comprehensive construction instructions and engineering drawings.

 

Can you arrange delivery anywhere in the UK?

 

Yes, delivery can be arranged anywhere in the UK.

 

Can I collect my tunnel kit?

 

Yes, collection can be arranged from our commercial warehouse on the Isle of Lewis.

 

How long does delivery take?

 

Delivery usually takes around six to eight weeks, depending on production schedules, transport availability and your preferred delivery date.

 

Do you offer an installation service?

 

We do not currently offer an installation service, but we may be able to help you find a local contractor to install your kit.

 

How long does it take to build?

 

Kits generally take around one to two weeks to build, provided the ground preparation has been completed correctly and you have fully read and understood the construction guide.

What tools will I need for assembly?

 

Only basic construction tools are required for installation; no heavy plant is necessary.

 

Can the tunnel be built by one person?

 

Installation is normally undertaken by two people to achieve the best finish. Installation by one person may be possible, provided they have the correct tools and techniques.

 

Do I need to prepare the ground before installation?

 

A flat, level area of ground is recommended. The ground must also be suitable for excavation by spade to the depth specified in the construction guide supplied with your tunnel.

 

Can the kit be installed on concrete or other hard surfaces?

 

Kits can be installed on any surface, provided the foundations can be installed correctly.

 

What are the benefits of polycarbonate compared with polythene?

 

Polycarbonate is much thicker than polythene, making the structure significantly stronger. This strength is enhanced by our unique design, which has been tested in some of the UK’s harshest environments.

 

How strong are your tunnel kits?

 

Our kits have been designed and tested in some of the UK’s toughest environments on the west coast of Scotland, where they have endured Atlantic storms year after year.

 

What wind speeds are the tunnels designed to withstand?

 

When built correctly in accordance with our construction guide, our tunnel structure is intended to be suitable for wind gusts of up to 130 mph.

 

How long will the tunnel last?

 

Our tunnels are designed to last for more than 15 years with very little maintenance, provided our comprehensive construction guide has been followed.

 

Are the tunnels suitable for exposed or coastal locations?

 

Our kits are designed for the harshest coastal climates while still providing a warm, dry and comfortable space for you to enjoy throughout the year.

 

Will the frame rust or corrode?

 

Our frames are made from high-grade, durable plastic, so they will not rust or corrode, even in harsh outdoor environments.

 

What maintenance is required?

 

Very little maintenance is required. Any necessary maintenance will be outlined in our comprehensive construction guide.

 

Can the tunnel be used all year round?

 

Our kits create an internal climate of around 20–30°C throughout the year, regardless of the outdoor conditions.

 

Is it suitable for growing vegetables, fruit and flowers?

 

Our kits create an ideal climate for all your growing needs by providing a consistent and controlled environment.

 

Can it be used as an outdoor living space?

 

Absolutely. Our kits have many potential uses, including hot tub enclosures, garage spaces and year-round entertaining areas for your friends and family.

Can I use it as a hot tub enclosure?

 

Absolutely. Our kits provide an ideal enclosure for a hot tub, creating a warm, dry environment that can help reduce heating costs.

 

Is it suitable for commercial growing?

 

Our 10, 11 and 12 metre kits are ideal for commercial growing because of their larger size and the productive growing environment they create.

 

Can schools and community groups purchase your tunnel kits?

 

Of course. Our kits are perfect for outdoor learning, including school growing projects, skills-development workshops, storage and many other uses.

 

What payment methods do you accept?

 

We accept payment by bank transfer or postal cheque.

 

Do I need to pay a deposit?

 

A £500 deposit is required to secure your order and commence production of your kit. This amount will be deducted from the balance of your final invoice.

 

How do I request a quotation?
